6 January 2021

PIAB has been working successfully during the current pandemic – delivering its essential services to customers, while supporting public health measures.

However, in the current phase of the pandemic, and in support of Government guidelines, we will be adapting how we deliver our service, with the temporary cancellation of medical examinations.

PIAB has taken the decision to cancel medical examinations arranged for the month of January 2021.

To allow for examinations which are already in train and for the issuing of notifications of cancellation, all examinations arranged for the period Friday the 8th January to the 31st January 2021 are cancelled. The examinations will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity with re-arrangement details communicated in the coming weeks.

This does not in any way alter the obligations of claimants to co-operate with independent medical examinations. Medical reports continue to be ultimately needed to progress any claim and, where required medical information is available, assessment will of course continue.

Please note that all doctors on our medical panel are following all HSE protocols and guidelines and have developed new ways of working to continue to provide services safely. In responding to the pandemic, we have adapted how we deliver our services and are continuing to process claim applications and to assess injuries.

During the current period, we request that customers continue to deal with us electronically wherever possible, either by using:

We will update our website on any changes to the above.
